Edit Messages / Chats in a Thread

David WavyCat You propose a great solution! for interrrelated chats like fictional world settings, you can edit/delete ceritan events and a pop-up asking weather to change the rest of the responses (if needed) will appear. this way you can change the course of events without asking it to delete or forget some events!

I like this. to make it even better-lets say that if the responses are interrrelated (eg: creating hypothetical worlds) then it can rework the other responses (eg: change the name of some entities or change the enviromental setting it discribes)

Any updates?

It doesn't need to be conversational branching! Just editing the LAST input and the possibility of reload a new output for the LAST input!

You.com, please give us some response. I want to know updates regarding this! This feature is stuck as planned forever now!

Conversation Branching with Conversation Tree Navigation
S
Samuel Prime
Core Feature: Implement conversation branching in YouChat that allows users to:
- Create alternate conversation paths from any message point
- Maintain access to the original conversation thread
- Navigate between branches via clickable links at branch points
- Visualize the full conversation tree structure
Business Value for Knowledge Workers:
- Enhanced Problem Solving: Explore multiple solution paths simultaneously without losing context
- Decision Making Support: Compare different approaches by maintaining parallel conversation threads
- Knowledge Management: Better organize and retrieve complex discussions
- Workflow Efficiency: Reduce time spent recreating context when exploring alternative scenarios
Technical Requirements:
- Branch points clearly marked with timestamps and origin links
- Interactive tree visualization for easy navigation
- Persistent conversation history across all branches
- Seamless switching between conversation threads
This feature would significantly enhance YouChat's value proposition for knowledge workers by enabling more structured and efficient exploration of complex topics and solutions.

It’s kind of crazy that this is not a thing. I was told that this is what made some people stay on Perplexity.

Chat branching like in ChatGPT

Can we have chat branching so that we can go off to a different topic and then come back again to the same context?
I'm not sure about the technical feasibility (seems complex as the data must be stored in form of embeddings all together), but I believe this can be a game changer.
